The ultra large container ship CMA CGM Vasco de Gama grounded at approach to Port of Southampton, UK. Around midnight yesterday, the vessel stuck into a sandy mud shallow after leaving the shipping way in The Solent, maneuvering to enter in separation scheme. At crew reported about grounding and at the scene were dispatched two tugs, which succeeded to refloat the ultra large container carrier for less than 30 minutes. The vessel CMA CGM Vasco de Gama resumed voyage and docked at Southampton container terminal, where will be inspected and surveyed by local authorities. During the accident there were no injured people and no water pollution.

The local authorities reported that traffic in the area was not affected by the grounding of ultra large container ship. The accident did not caused any damages of the vessel. The investigation for the root cause of grounding is under way.

The mega container ship CMA CGM Vasco de Gama (IMO: 9706889) has overall length of 399.00 m, moulded beam of 54.00 m and maximum draft of 14.50 m. The vessel has deadweight of 185,000 DWT, gross tonnage of 168,000 GRT and capacity to carry 17,859 TEU. The ultra large container ship was built in 2015 by Jiangnan Changxing
